Today was not a great day! I fell flat on my face. I took my son out for fall festival activities and hadn't planned on it being so cold and hot chocolate was given to all. This started the downward spiral followed by hotdog(bun). Then after that we went to a birthday party--naturally cake was handed out and since I'd already destroyed my day..... but tomorrow is going to be a new day and less available carbs.

We all have had days like that! Dang those hotdog buns and birthday cake LOL! One thing I know for sure, just from my own experience, is that all those temptations won't always look as good as they do in the beginning. I've found that when I would allow myself a big splurge, the food didn't taste as good as it used to (or as good as I thought it would), and my body felt so cruddy the next day. It was like a sugar hangover. Then it would take me 5-7 days to lose what I gained from eating it, even if it was just a pound or two! That was for the birds! LOL.. As you start to see the inches and pounds come off, you'll start to rethink those splurges. You'll feel so good about yourself that you won't even want to cheat! With me, the low-carb food that I fix tastes so much better than that cheating food. Plus, your "taste" for those sugary, starchy foods will change. And if you find yourself having something that's not low-carb, don't give up the whole day. I used to do that, too, and it got me nowhere. That cup of hot chocolate wouldn't have messed things up too badly, but I know how our brains can trick us into thinking things like "Well, I've already blown today. I'll start again tomorrow." Bad brain.. lol. We have to re-train our brains, and it really doesn't take that long. I've found that planning ahead is so very important. If I'm going somewhere the next day, and low-carb food isn't going to be available, I make up some food the night before to take with me and eat it on the way. Also, drink lots of water. Yes, you'll be visiting the bathroom on a regular basis lol but water will keep you feeling full. Trust me, you'll finally get to the point where it won't matter if you're surrounded by high-carb food, you'll talk yourself out of eating it. Good luck to you! I know you can do this!! :D

We have ALL been there and I can only imagine how hard it is with children, you're exposed to carbs (and really tasty ones all of the time). I ususally carry one of the atkins bars with me ...some of the flavors are INCREDIBLE, that way if I feel I really need to endulge, I eat the bar and it takes that urge away. You can DEFINITELY do it, just pick yourself up and start again ... that's sort of what life is all about anyway :).
