Another new low..the weight just keeps dropping off! I'm not really doing anything very much different, that I can tell. I believe it might have something to do with the mindset. If you've been reading my journals, you'll recall that I gave myself permission to stay around 165. I was willing to 'allow' a plateau. Since then, with hardly any effort, I've seen a drop every day. Interesting.
I follow a few Aviation channels (AvGeeks) on YouTube, and one yesterday posted a flight on FinnAir. They served him Swedish meatballs for lunch, and it gave me a craving for some. I searched a recipe, ketofied it, and made up a batch. Then I remembered the last time I had them. It was at IKEA about 5 years ago, and I didn't like them! LOL! Mine tasted exactly the same, and I still don't like them. I crack myself up, sometimes.
I have a moderately busy day at work today, and might swing by Walmart after. Tomorrow, I've booked the day off. There are a few things going on that I want to attend. A nearby town is having a spotlight event, called "Taste of Beaufort". All the local restaurants will have tasting booths set up by the waterfront. I plan to go in the morning. Then in the afternoon, my electrical co-op is having the annual meeting. I will get a $25 credit on my bill, just for showing up.
Have a fabulous Friday, buddies!

Sounds like your diet actually became your WOE, so you are the mark of success. As far as the weight loss goes, I suspect 165 is too heavy for your frame. It's the perfect weight for a woman who is 5'11". Perhaps it's time for you to change your goal weight? Rule of thumb is 5 lbs. For every inch over 5'0", with a starting point of 100 lbs. So 5'3" = 115 lbs.

Hey Kes, I sent you a message!

Soon, maybe she is doing mini-goal weight challenges? If so, nothing wrong with that. It worked for me. She didn't say she was stopping @ 165 lbs. Even if she was that's her preogative. I don't see any problem in allowing plateaus. I did that myself before I reached my last goal weight. I am 5'3" and my ending goal weight=125 lbs and I am healthy and fit. BF=18%. My physician approves. The 5 lbs=1 inch over 5' is obsolete. BMI is used more nowadays. Fat calipers and your clothes will give you a true indication if you are going in the right direction as the goal for most if not all is to get rid of the fat. An ordinary scale is a great tool, but it isn't giving one a breakdown about what is what; what's fat, what's bone, what's muscle, what's water. I don't even trust the newer, digital scales. I've been using fat calipers for years. It's cheaper and realiable. I am getting testing done soon to check bone, muscle and fat percentages since I am in my 50's now. I am sure she will tweak this or that if something's not working for her.

CCBabcock - yes, the bodyfat percentage vs. lean muscle is thenew standard for measuring health and fitness. Thanks for posting.

@CCbabcock: You are within 10 pounds of your ideal, which is in line with the charts. They allow for bone size, curviness, and muscle. Also, Kes stated above that she was plateaued at 165. No one is attacking anyone. I offered it as an explanation as to why she is continuing to lose weight.

I pretty much set an arbitrary goal when I started this journey last year. 50 pounds to start really felt insurmountable at that point! But I've always said I would reassess if/when I dropped that 50. I'm big-boned, and at my thinnest I was 130, and people thought I looked gaunt. So did I. As a swimmer, I have a very broad back and shoulders. Ultimately, I think, each of us must decide where we feel best, just as we all have to find a WOE that works for us. I've been a long-time rebel against "average". Heck, even my normal body temperature is almost 2 degrees below "normal"!

Actually, Soon, I said that I gave myself *permission* to be plateaued at 165, meaning that I was ok doing maintenance for that weight. However, if you check, I've dropped nearly 5 lbs since I made that decision. ;)

Great job, Kes! I did the same thing--50-pound goal to start, then "resting" at various weights after that and setting new five-pound goals every so often, only when I felt like it. I think that helped my skin, metabolism, and "set point" to adjust along the way, all of which should set me up for long term maintenance success. You're doing great! And you sound so happy!

I did notice you lost 5 additional pounds (excellent!). I believe in you, based on your track record, and I think you should believe in yourself and your ability to tackle a new goal. The weight is still coming off because your body doesn't need it.

At 115 lbs I would look sick taken in consideration my build which isn't pencil thin. I have an athletic build. I think it's easier on your body to go slow and easy.

As a guy I am happy at 7 to 9 percent body fat, I'm not a gymnast, just a regular joe.

And congrats on the loss.

And 115 on a 5'3" Oriental woman would look heavy. The charts allow for +/- 10 pounds, and I think that's right on the money. But no matter how you slice it, 165 is no 115. That's 50 pounds difference, and about 7-8% additional body fat. Nice role model is Jillian Michaels, coach from The Biggest Loser, who is 5'2", 115 pounds of perfect boobs + muscle at 17% body fat.

Well done kes. You've come so far. I have short term goals, as my long term seems so so far away Continue with your WOE that suits you You're doing great 👍 Enjoy your weekend x
