Maintenance Calorie Trajectory ---> Week 28 --> 7 Month Maintenance Anniversary Edition!!!

Wow, 7 months in maintenance. We're over the half year mark, people. So, what are my opinions about weight maintenance 7 months in? Well, I have to say my perspective is not much different than it was when I was losing. It's work. Sometimes, it's hard work. But, it's worth the effort.

I can say this mind has finally adjusted to a less large version of itself. That was definitely one aspect of maintenance this mind had to adapt to. And, I am genuinely thankful to this body for everything it continues to provide me. It gets pushed hard, but it comes back strong.

I've hit that point with lifting weights where I need to really start focusing on form. I'm graduating to 12 lbs hand held weights soon and the 22 lb kettlebell is on its way and will be keeping company with the 17 lb kettlebell I already use. I've been noticing a lot of "pinched nerve" pain around my neck and shoulders after weight day. And, this last session it suddenly occurred to me while doing "reverse flys" how much better my neck and shoulders felt when I focused on keeping my chest up and out! Even with biceps I noticed it made a huge difference and actually increases the pull of resistance. It's funny how the body will inevitably let you know what the correct form is after a while. lol

I have my first physical therapy appointment this Friday to work on balance. I was supposed to have that appointment a couple of weeks ago, but had to re-schedule due to the flu. I've decided to invest in a bosu ball to help with balance exercises. I haven't purchased it yet, because I want to see what exercises the physical therapist shows me that I might be able to use with the ball.

This girl's core, quads, and glutes are perty dang strong. However, I need to consciously start using these muscles in an optimal way when it comes to balance. At 75 lbs down, this body's center of gravity has changed and leaves me off kilter when I turn on a dime. Despite the Multiple Sclerosis, this brain has a phenomenal map of how this body moves in space, especially with 2 numb legs and feet. But, this brain is still trying to move this body as if it's 75 lbs heavier. Does that makes sense?

Anyhow, it will be interesting to see what kind of exercises the physical therapist has me do. As you can see, I switched my 1964 cal day to a Friday. I figure after my hair appointment on Friday morn, Mom and I can go eat a good lunch and then head off the physical therapy appointment. I don't want to get to stuffed, then my balance will be REALLY OFF! LOL. But, I guess they take 45 minutes for paperwork and evaluation and another 45 minutes for the appointment, so I want to be good and fueled.

It's going to be a high octane week. I have resistance training tomorrow. Rest and repair on Tuesday. Cardio on Wednesday. Weights on Thursday.

Bless caffeine and BCAA's, and bless you all! Have a wonderful week!

It’s nice to hear an honest perspective on maintenance. I think so many of us feel that things will get easier or we can forget about what it took to lose the weight, but we really can’t. For most of us this will be a life long journey. Good for you on 7 months maintenance!!’
