With the help of my dear Mother, I got my brand new weight bench set up tonight. I now have a weight rack, weight bench, dip bars, bosu & resistance bands, and there is actually a recumbent bike in the suite as well that has more than paid for itself at this point. And, I can't forget the addition of a cute little gym partner too boot. All I need is a sign that says, "This gym is open for business." I could say it's officially complete, but 2 years into all this and I think it's safe to say, I'm just getting started. Some time next year, I want to invest in a row machine. But, for now this is a good start for sure!
I also made a final decision on what new training shoe to get. In the cross-fit world, there is a constant battle between metcons, and nanos. I have gone back and forth about which one too try. The ones I use now are a basic skecher, but they're actually stiff and flat the way I need them to be when I'm doing weights, squats, planks/push ups, or balancing on the bosu. Without sensation in the toes and feet, a stiff tight shoes helps keep my form firm and the feet stable. The hoka's are great for walking in, but that cushy soul is not good if I need my feet to remain flat while doing goblet or jump squats.
Anyhow, I really was confused over which one to get. There are others like Nobull, but that's geared toward heavy weights and I'm not there yet. I do metabolic conditioning on Wednesday's workout so a "cross-trainer" shoe is important. I was just about to purchase some Nike Metcons 4X, when I saw Reebok has another cross-trainer shoe called "Cross-fit Grace". And, can I tell you she was was beautiful and I liked the name. It suits my state of mind when I train.
Have a beautiful blessed week, everyone!
Below is this week's maintenance cal trajectory. There is a base ball game on Wednesday I'm attending, so I put the 2400 cal day on that date so I can have fun and eat some dogs and drink some beer.
Looking forward to trying out the weight bench. I can finally start doing some modified tricep dips and it will be a great option to increase stabilization while using the free weights.
