I went outside this morning to water the fruit trees. Every single peach is gone and there are hundreds of peach pits on the ground. What the deer didn't get some other critter must have got by climbing inside the caging. I had been so excited thinking I was going to get at least a half dozen, maybe more, pomegranites this fall. But this morning only one is left. So sad. Birds or deer got the little red buds.

Ach!!!!!!!! Grrr!!!!!!!! My big project for these past two days is netting my blueberries against all the hungry critters. Now I'm just hoping that the birds don't get caught in the netting. I've already gotten a terse message from my neighbor who is an ornithologist. He rescued 2 catbirds who'd gotten stuck inside. I had to go out today and cover the ground-edge with chips to keep them from sneaking in.

Yep, deer ate almost all of my hostas this year. Not happy.

I feel your pain. Deer have wrecked my yard. They ate almost all my hostas and lilies blooms. I wish they loved weeds and not my expensive garden plants...

Thanks Crystal - it is a bummer. I was so excited when I thought I might have 6-8 pomegranites this year. Erika - I don't want to put netting out but I have heavy wire caging around the fruit trees. Maybe I can have someone make it higher. Moriticia and John I love the deer and don't have many plants growing because I know they eat just about everything. They are supposed to leave azaleas alone but they've even eaten some of them.
