Diario de ddrudd, 31 dic. 23

2023 has been an interesting year. Made some big changes, moved 3,000 miles, tried some new things, made some new friends, reconnected with friends I haven’t seen in 20 years, reconnected with family I didn’t see enough.

Going into 2024 I feel overwhelmingly lucky and I’m afraid to even say out loud all the things I’m thankful for out of a superstitious fear that I will lose the good things if I say them.

One fun new thing lately is I somehow stumbled my way into trying to build muscle (a real honest effort for the first time) no doubt thanks to this community, sometimes the comments people have made on my posts have really sink in as I think about them, sometimes I just read other conversations that help me learn things. The “just lift” challenge I’ve been participating in has also really allowed me to think a lot about this and start to truly focus on it. In all honesty I feel super lazy eating a lot and sleeping a lot, but the coldest darkest days of the year, and the holidays, couldn’t have been a better time to try this.

Like with all things I’ll have to see where this leads me. Life is change. I just want to be open and be honest. Happy new year to all

Happy New Year! You are killing it!!! Don't think of it as being lazy & eating too much. Imagine that you just employed builders & they have to be paid with nutrition & rewarded with rest.

@zenus Yeah… for me for the longest time it was just “move as much as possible” and I only worried about the food part of things if the doctor said my bloodwork was bad… which did happen a couple times due to always being exhausted and semi-burned out and eating tons of calorie dense foods 🙃 health truly is a balancing act. FWIW you seem to be doing great. We’ll always be making adjustments and changing up our routines for what we need in our present situation, more and more I feel like resilience - always being adaptable and open to change - is true power 💪

Thanks, Storms & ddrudd. @Ddrudd I love that last statement! So true! Up until this point, I really haven't been interested in intense cardio at all. 1) I HATE it! 😅 2) I felt like it might would hold back muscle gains. Now, I think it's time to start incorporating more, or at least start sucking up the courage to start Jillian Michael's BR in the coming weeks...lol. It's a 3 month program that I'd like to finish AT LEAST by May. I'm going to try to pick up some more home gym equipment during that time so that I will then have everything I need to start Body Beast. That's the plan for now anyway. Still working on that schedule! Today is the first day of the first planned schedule with the new job added, since everything else should go pretty much back to normal being that everyone else in the family's vacation days are over. 🤞🫰

@zenus I love the enthusiasm 😄 getting some home equipment is an awesome idea. I’m a big fan of the home gym personally. Most days I don’t mind doing a workout at all but I just don’t wanna leave the house, lol 😆
