~Embracing your WOE~Brain Pain~And, GUESS WHO DID 50 SIT UPS TODAY?!~

Yesterday's fatter-day was delicious, although by all accounts I did not keep my calorie count within maintenance level. But, then again we all knew that was likely. It did bring my daily caloric average up to just below 1400, which is exactly what I wanted. Venuto often states in the book that if an individual is strength/resistance training, the ladies will want to try to keep their caloric average in around 1500 and if you're shorter (which, I am), the average needs to be around 1400. I did weigh in at 200.2 lbs this a.m., but again we knew my body was going to retain water. What made both my mother and I chuckle is that my body seems to be attached to the 4lb water retention mark post cheat day. I did drink more than 3 liters of water yesterday, but that just didn't seem to matter. Both my mom and I confessed we did not do much peeing last night, and she woke up thirsty.

I woke up with a HORRIBLE headache. An unfortunate result of a wicked combination of booze, sinus headache from allergies, and a chocolate migraine. What is a chocolate migraine, you ask? Well, I am one of those individuals who will sometimes incur a headache if they eat chocolate, especially if I've gone a while without eating it. It happens to my mom as well. My co-worker's Mother brought us these homemade chocolate creme cakes, and of course I indulged. Can't pass one of those up on a "fatter-day", but no sooner had I finished, I felt this mild throb begin on the right side of my head. My nose was also itchy yesterday and a bit stuffy from allergies, so combine all that with 3 drinks and some morning brain pain was inevitable. I called out today. I work 4 9 hour days and get half day on Fridays, so if a person is going to take a day off at the firm, Friday is the day to do it.

I had to take an intense cocktail of meds to get rid of the headache, which included Claritin, Flonase, and 3 Motrin. But, it finally did the trick and I was able to drag myself out of bed and fix breakfast. I also started downing water like a mad woman! lol. It took a liter and a half of water before my body started to let go and pee. I'm going to try for 4-5 liters of water today to help compensate, because allergy medicine will also do a wonderful job of dehydrating the body too. Bottom line, it may take a few days before we see 196.2 again. But, the beauty is that we know it's water.

On the flip side, I'm really beginning to embrace my WOE (Way of Eating). Sometimes, it's hard to realize day in and day out just what benefits our bodies are receiving when we eat healthy and exercise, until we have that day when we don't. Fat loss is just one of those benefits, but after having a fatty carb loaded day, its become apparent there are a whole lot of other benefits a healthy lifestyle provides, notwithstanding:

1. More energy
2. stress relief/less anxiety
3. less inflammation in the body
4. Intestinal relief
5. greater strength and endurance
6. Hormonal balance
7. As a peri menopausal woman, relief from intense hot flashes
8. quicker healing capabilities

And, that's just the physical benefits I'm becoming aware of, but I'm also finding it helps me wade through and sit with some of the tough emotional feelings that often surface on this journey. And, let me tell ya, sitting with my emotions is not and easy thing for me, but I'm learning it's okay while peddling away on the bike and lifting my weights, to let those emotions surface, explore them, and when I feel ready...to let them go. I'm realizing that burying myself in fat serenity and/or apathy so I don't have to feel isn't my only option to emotionally cope. There are other ways that take far less of a toll than whatever pain this girl has been attempting to avoid. It definitely leaves me with a genuine sense of gratitude for my WOE.

In other news, GUESS WHO DID 50 SIT UPS, TODAY?!
