I’ve seen so many meals rice and bean based in Brazil and awesome body transformations coming with it, some great quads too.. so I guess it is true. Real food and the basic that works, as they say.

I hate the dishonesty of labelling croissants, ice-cream, fries, candy bars and cookies as "carbs". If these are carbs, we can just as easily call them "fats" by the same logic. It could be "fats are the main cause of human obesity" which would be stupid still, but would actually have more truth to it, because very few carbs actually end up in adipose - excess dietary fat is stored way more easily. But basically, overeating, choosing to ignore nutritional labels, choosing to eat in places where you don't know what's in the food and eating too much of it, and not taking responsibility for one's choices are the causes of obesity.

Paula, I was talking to a Brazilian client once when I was doing IF/keto and the topic of food/diet came up and he was absolutely horrified when I told him I didn't eat carbs and didn't eat breakfast. He was fit, active, eating loads of fibrous carbs and wouldn't dream of skipping breakfast.

I'm with Shirfleur and Cindy - Love carbs! Fruit, rice, potatoes just some of the plants with lots of carbs.

It's the processed foods that are the problem.

If we follow the money we might find out how carbs became the enemy. My meal plans largely consist of unrefined carbs.

Mermee, butter has trace carbs so watch out for those when making your bulletproof coffee. It's not all the saturated fat from the 1/4 cup of butter that's the problem, it's the trace carbs.

And if you're no longer losing weight after the initial water drop on low-carb, it's not the fat that's the problem. Keep adding more fat to burn fat, don't count calories but scrutinize condiments and bacon for trace carbs (<1g per serving): they will spike your insulin and make you store fat!!!

Yes, sorry for the confusion. I just have deep loathing for carb fear-mongering after being a victim of it.
