Well, all be! Actually, this isn't totally unexpected - but, I will say that little tip I learned from that cross fit coach about heart rate is definitely upping my fitness game. Anyhow, for those of you that know how important maintenance is to me, then you must also know how important this metabolism is to a 45 year old post menopausal woman. I haven't even added in the swimming, yet. Bottom line, if I continue to let myself lose and not add in cals to maintain where I'm at, I will continue to burn less. Metabolism is like a wood burning stove, if you don't keep it stoked with more wood, it will go out. Soooooo, I already decided about a month ago - if I continue to see any more drops on the scale I will add in more cals. If the scale continues to show me 134 lbs, I will add an additional 83 cals per week to keep me at 135. I will add them to my "low cal" days as I zig zag my weekly caloric intake. This ensures a few things. 1) My metabolism stays fueled. 2) I have enough fuel in this body for the level of activity I'm doing. 3) When fall & winter comes and activity winds down, I can simply subtract cals I've added as activity decreases (i.e. when we close the pool, and I'm unable to do my full walking circuits due to inclement weather). And, there ya have it!
