My prayers are with your family for healing and protection from this episode in life. It is traumatic emotionally and will need mental healing. I have a similar experience my family went through that almost destroyed us.

So sorry for all the drama, but I can't help but think your life will be far less stressful with him gone. Take care of yourself my friend. 💚💛💜

@holly. What actually sucks is being addicted to alcohol. While the person has to assume responsibility for his recovery, he is not responsible for the disease. As a recovering cocaine addict, I thank God for people in my circle that did not throw me away. Let’s keep the gentleman in our prayers and hope he takes the first step in seeking real help. You should be commended for trying to help him.

@ Debbie - Just a thought but you may want to recommend Celebrate Recovery. It’s a Christ Centered, 12 step program. Sorry, I know this is a site dedicated to nutrition, just trying to help...

Gosh Debbie! Good of you and your family for trying to help another human in trouble!
Now maybe you can concentrate on your health and nutrition and allow your kind family to support YOU and let the rest of the world take care of itself, for awhile. Take good care, Debbie.

it's always hard to find that balance between helping and enabling. sometimes we have to cut things out especially if they become toxic to us. we have a woman like that at church. we've pours into for years. still the same. although it hurts it's the right choice. stay strong. i stand with you.

I’m sorry you and your family had to deal with that. It’s so hard when you want to help someone who’s not willing to help themselves. My oldest brother is just like the person you speak of and I can so relate. Sending love, light and prayers
