It's so frustrating 😫 I had less calories this week than last week . I don't know how I managed to gain a whole 1.2 lbs. All the progress from last few weeks gone . It makes me want to just give up. I sacrifice on food because of calories and it doesn't matter I still gain so why not just enjoy the gain?

Do you exercise 15-30 minutes a day as well? Weight loss is calories out vs. calories in. A smart watch that tracks your energy exertion may help you monitor that. It also may be the time of day your weighing yourself. Many factors figure in here. Keep the faith and you will be rewarded. (That last sentence just sounded good, but you still have to put the work in. :) )

I know how you feel 🙁 For the past few weeks I worked hard, but didn’t see progress. Finally, today I’m down 1# 😊 We just have to persist and wait for our bodies to respond 😉

Don't forget, your weight could vary as much as a few lbs in a single *day* due to a lot of factors unrelated to fat gain (like fluid retention, inflammation, significantly altered gut microbiome, constipation/gas, etc) - it may just be you caught yourself in a variable stage! Especially if you're weighing what you eat and are recording accurately. Given the look of your past journal entries, you are, so stay strong and see what next week's weigh-in says. =)

It may also be worth considering actually increasing your calorie intake. I couldn't tell ya the science nor logic behind it, but the closer I get to ideal, I have to ratchet up my intake periodically. My ideal is 150, so at 165 i have to go from 1400 calories up to 1600 calories in order to continue losing. I dunno why or how, but this is the third time I've gone thru this process, and I always plateau at 165, and increasing my intake always defeats that plateau.

I've always been taught to look at weight loss in 5 pound blocks, instead of individual, daily pounds. Weigh yourself once a week, same time and same amount of clothing each time. Track your weight loss weekly, realizing that daily weight can fluctuate as much as 5-6 pounds...seriously. And most importantly, forgive your body!!! Just keep up the good work and don't take it quite so seriously...go out and enjoy a walk in the fresh air, breathe deeply and be thankful for your blessings in life! Keep at it and you will overcome. :)

Thanks everyone for the support. It helps knowing you're not the only one who struggles. I try to think of how much I have loss but at times like this it's hard when you feel you've done so good and the scales tells you you didn't. I've thought about upping my calories just to see if it helps but def scared I will see a bigger gain next week.

Don't give up..I TOTALLY get what you are saying and have learned over time that crazy fluctuations when I've been really good still happen. It could be a combo in things, but, don't forget that our bodies are REALLY good at figuring out when we reduce calories and sometimes it'll just "adjust" to what it perceives as possibly starting to starve. You may have to experiment to see if a particular macro increase can kick-start the losing process again...for me, it seems to be a little more protein. Just keep sticking with it....it'll move downward again :)

I recently posted the same thing. I was so frustrated. I decided to quit weighing myself everyday. I was fasting and restricting calories as well as working out. Turned out I was gaining muscle weight. I bought a measuring tape and realized although I was gaining weight I was losing inches

Today's gain is messing with my mind . My grandsons bday party is tomorrow and I told myself I'm not eating a cupcake and if I hadn't gained I wouldn't. Since the weight gain this morning I've decided to eat one and have pizza tomorrow night. I've been wanting pizza so bad and I've been just watching other ppl eat it because of calories. I'm not going way off my usual just going to enjoy one day but not pigging out . I know I will be gained more next Fri but atleast I'll know why.

Looks like everyone already said pretty much what I would but it's totally normal to see day to day fluctuations. Your body is always doing something. It's going to gain water, and swell at times. Thankfully its water and not fat because you are changing your behaviors. I've had plateaus and this is usually when I'm losing fat and gaining muscle. The scale is just a tool to help give you an idea of how you're progressing but its definitely not the whole picture. Personally I'd rather fit in my clothes better and be more shapely at a higher weight than look out of shape at a lower one. I do know exactly how you feel though! I was saying the same thing several months ago. I felt like I wanted to quit because I felt like i was too hungry all the time or couldn't have certain foods. I found by uping my protein from 15% to 20% helped curb hunger and I decided to take a slower approach to losing so I don't cut calories too drastically. I still indulge but its more about portion control. You just have to keep the faith that it will come off!

If you are carefully logging your food, the drop will come, just give it time. At times like this I have to resist the urge to self-sabotage.
