I know that feeling! This time of year makes me want more substance to my foods. Salads are for summer. Fall brings on the urge for hot cooked greens, sweet potatoes, acorn and spaghetti squash, green bean casseroles and any and all roasts and stews. I had a bunless burger last night with lettuce and tomato on the side, it did not fill me up, I added a cup of the keto chili I made on Sunday and done! It hit the spot.

You 2 are making me realize what I’m missing by living in an assisted living place….being n the minority…you don’t have a choice of healthier choices….

Mike they won't let you go into the kitchen and create your own meal? Do they have a suggestion box for meals?

Maybe ask your physician to prescribe a high protein/whole foods diet, so you can get more meat?

Next month dietitian comes back….as for cooking in their kitchen..I figured with 52 residents….going into their kitchen was a safety problem….I have a microwave in room…and their is a smaller kitchen on my floor….guess I’ve gotten lazy…when I’m comes to fixing my own….

A crock pot for roasts and stews is always handy, they make small ones for single individuals, there are a lot of easy to fix one pot whole food meals that can satisfy one's need for more substantial/filling meats and veggies

it's a seasonal thing...for me in the fall/winter a crispy pork chop on top of a bed of steaming greens is preferred to a protein on a bed of cold raw veggies. Corned beef and cabbage, kielbasa and cabbage, the list goes on.

Good luck with it. I've had some recent success with bumping up protein.

I love veggies and eat a lot of them but often my body just craves protein so I focus on that too. I’m looking into moving to an assisted living situation too.

For me…the assisted living improved me…year round walking inside…and the meals are hard to pass up most days if you are fasting….you have to look ahead at the meals….i lost weight….enough the diet Ian …paid me a visit to make sure I knew what I was doing…when I told her I had talked with doctor…and I knew to have electrolytes..she knew I was more advanced then some…lol
