Happy Monday.

My weekend "Do processed carbs affect me?" experiment is over and the answer is yes.

Not worried because 5 days of discipline started last night at 8:30 P.M.

I logged all weekend and spent quality time with family.

I've seen two different definitions of "processed carbs" - other than what you can pick out of the garden/farm OR, those where the whole grain is NOT used - which are you talking about (inquiring minds want to know - LOL!)

Water from the extra carbs. Also 450 more calories than the day before. More food in your system.

Yeah I am watching my carbs too because Type 2 diabetes is a real thing. Going blind and losing limbs is a real thing.

Yeah, carbs don't give you diabetes.

But yeah, if you're talking about diabetics, what you said is true. I didn't realize you had diabetes.

complex carbs take digestion to work for it and simple are very easily processed so seem very close comparison to me.

simple=processed for me. Overly processed foods like sugar, flour, vegetable oil to be more specific. I will be the healthiest when I eat foods that are whole and/or minimally processed like butter. My body is real and I need to eat real foods.

you are correct it is processed but we were talking about carbs I thought, when you process carbs they have much less fiber so they are easy to digest and be sucked up by the body much quicker, so they work much faster then unprocessed or less processed complex carbs. the harder the body as to work to digest the more calories that are burned in digestion and more stable over the coarse of the day. simple carbs are a fast energy boost as you said and quickly burned up or converted if you have too much. it is the same way with anything you have too much with, excess goes to fat storage. if you need a boost for a workout of coarse a quick hit is beneficial in moderation as you said. it works like that for no carb just like carb plans too much you got storage but both are a quick energy boost if you are adapted (keto) for a workout.

I am unable to count on my ability to activity away certain treats. The combination of carbs and fats with little to no protein or fiber creates an infinite pit in my appetite. So, certain things can only happen out in the world. For some reason, a friend's house or restaurant sets limits for me I am unable to set for myself at home. I think I am getting better though. My freezer has an extraordinary amount of Haagen Dazs in it from a family member's hungry visit to the store and I haven't touched it. Of course, it isn't coffee or dulce de leche flavored so I kind of got lucky!

Also, even when calories are in excess, the fat you ate would be stored as fat before any carbs would. If there wasn't enough fat consumed then the carbs would be converted to fat. Fat converts directly to fat. It's less likely for the body to store carbs as fat since they would first go to glycogen stores.
