Giving up red meat, cheese & ice cream and swapping it with chicken, fish and legumes (beans & lentils) is the fastest way to dump the saturated fats. And saying goodbye to fast food and bread sweets (cake, donuts, etc.). Replace with berries and watermelon, peaches, etc.

Too bad there aren't drive through berry and watermelon stores! I have bad habits for sure

Ah, yes, the convenience factor! Indeed, I've never been through a drive through with healthy food. The switch away from fast and convenience foods is worth the effort, though 😊

Once upon a time there were roadside stands by farms where you could buy their latest crops harvested. I live at the beach now, so no Farm Drive Throughs, but there are Farmer's Markets everywhere and often. They're fun for a casual outing. But yeah, make a relationship with your supermarket's produce section, and try to visit a couple times a week to restock.

Maybe we do need drive through healthy options... but is that an oxymoron... I am not sure. Would it work? Not sure about that either.... A lot of fast food places do offer salads and healthier options but those are not very popular

I try to limit eggs, red meat and shrimp. It's hard to give it up. But I am really working on not buying ice cream or potato chips. If I am really craving ice cream I will go to the ice cream shop and just get an ice cream cone - it's better than having a gallon of ice cream in the freezer. I am learning to appreciate fruit more. I used to eat it maybe once a day, usually an apple or banana. But grapes have become my current potato chips! I also love blackberries and pineapple for snacks.

liv001-- when my brother lived in Italy, he wrote us a letter saying he'd ask our sympathy because he was living off of fast food, except the fast food was amazingly wonderful food from streetside food carts. Fresh pasta, veggies -- delicious and healthful. We really, IMHO, have a dysfunctional food culture in this country, both in attitudes and availability. It's hard to swim against the tide

I make chips out of zucchini. Slice thin, put on a microwave safe plate in a single layer and nuk. Until CRISP. There is probably a real recipe out there but I just wing it. NOT something to do for a crowd because it takes a little effort to watch them, etc. but boy are they good
