How do people drink coffee black? I've always wondered how you start to do that. I think I first drank coffee around 15 or 16. My mom and dad both used half and half and sugar and that's how I drank it. Still do. If your first taste of coffee is black, isn't it too bitter. I think if I had had black coffee I never would have tried it again. I am trying to make an effort to put less and less sugar in the coffee to see at what point I can still stand it. The only time I don't need sugar or half and half is if it's coffee and Kahlua.

Many years ago I made a plan to lose the weight I needed to lose. I was in my 40's. I planned for the diet to start on January 1st, don't remember the year, maybe 2000 or 2001. I didn't use a computer much. I remember I made charts on plain paper, pink, blue and green. I wrote dates down one column, the next column was the weight, and then the goal weight for that date and the weekly result and then total lost or gained. I weighed myself every Saturday morning. I started at 169.5 pounds and I got to 129 pounds in less than 6 months. I was wearing a size 16 in jeans when I started. Does anyone remember Spiegal catalogue? As I started to lose weight I ordered a pair of jeans in size 12. When I got them, they looked huge but I couldn't fit them up to my thighs. After 10-12 pounds they fit me. So I ordered the next pair lower, a size 10. I kept doing that until I finally got to size 6. That's the only time that strategy has worked for me. Since them I've bought clothes thinking "this will fit perfect once I lose 10 pounds" and then it never happens. But right now I am motivated and I am thinking of doing something similar. I ordered some jogging pants from Amazon to wear to physical therapy. I really love them so bought a 2nd pair. So nice to wear when it's 105 outside instead of jeans. I'm in the largest pair they sell. I'm thinking of ordering a pair in the capri style in a couple weeks one size lower. That's if I continue to lose. It can be motivating

Fritzy 22- I used to try cream, sugar, cream and sugar: always hated it. When I finally drank some black I learned to like it. Some black coffee is better than others, though.

Took me years to “enjoy” unsweetened tea, though.

I don't drink coffee now. When I did it was mostly creamer and sugar. I don't like coffee but I REALLY cream and sugar. I do love decaffeinated tea though and herbal tea.

Good coffee isn't too bitter. I get the fresh ground medium roast.

I drink it to stay awake at work I don’t have the time nor energy to make it taste any better plus I enjoy drinking my fill without the calories

I love coffee and drink it black. I drank it with milk only when I was in HS. in college, I always had a can of coffee, but never had milk. got so used to it black that I can't drink it any other way. that being said, I detest dark roast (Starbucks). if you commit to black coffee, you'll eventually enjoy it that way. it's an acquired taste.

Coffee ☕️ 😋 with milk. Hate it black - too bitter, but I don’t add sugar. Love McDonald’s hot lattes, no flavoring-no sweetener!! Love it!! I know people like it black, but acidic and to me, I think it’s hard on the tummy. I do count the calories in my tracking.😊 Katsolo told me to watch, James Hoffmann on Youtube and I do like his videos!👍

When I was in high school my friend's dad used to take us to the diner sometimes for breakfast. We'd get donuts and, since he drank coffee, we wanted some too. He said we could have some but we had to drink it black like he did - thinking it would discourage us. We were too stubborn to be discouraged and we had sweet donuts to go with it, so that's how I got used to coffee and that's how I like it to this day.

I changed to black coffee in 1979 while traveling in Europe. The coffee in Germany & Switzerland was fabulous. I was a young woman traveling with my father. It was hard to get the wait staff to bring me skim milk . You can’t imagine the stuff they tried to pass off as milk. Nevertheless I decided to stick with black when I got home. It was really hard b/c American coffee isn’t very good. I’m used to it now and would never go back. I agree with others comments that not all coffee is the same in taste.

Why I drink lattes in the morning. I use 2% milk with stevia and vanilla extract and my preferred amount is 1/2 oz per drink. I will drink black coffee if it’s a strong dark roast and I like my espresso black so I guess I’m no help at all to you here. 🙃

I loved Spiegel catalogs so much! And I love black coffee. I also love coffee with cream and sugar. Matter of fact, when we stay places or I'm in a meeting and the stuff for coffee is out on the counter or table, I can't resist adding some fun stuff. I totally get why people don't like black coffee, but I'm thankful I do.

I started using Kitu Super Creamer (Sweet Cream is my fav flavor) and it is fantastic! I get some protein and I don't need to go without my creamer. Don't even need any sweetener added with it.

Nice story. TYFS I use 1/2 tbs of sugar free toranis syrup which I found in the coffee aisle at Walmart. Plus 1/4 tsp coconut oil. There are lots of flavors in the Toranis brand but I like the s’mores the best. On Sundays I whip up 1 tbs of heavy whipping cream with 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract and 1/2 of a stevia pkt and it’s my Sunday indulgence.

2 TBS of Toranis is still 0 calories :)

start drinking it with no cream, sugar only and then slowly decrease the sugar until you like it black. also going with a flavored coffee like blueberry helps

I have been cleaning out file cabinet and drawers. I've found some of the same weight loss charts. This is so much easier! I used to look forward to the Spiegal Christmas catalog. It was worn out by Thanksgiving.

My mother and I loved Spiegel's! They had pretty everything! My mother ordered from them, don't think I even did, as it was a bit beyond my budget with raising kids at the time. I think that's a wonderful plan. 💕
