I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost my son a few years back and the pain and sorry seems to become tolerable over time as you accept it. The hardest part for me was dealing with the guilt. I was never there for him when he needed me the most because when I was in the Air Force I was constantly flying and never at home. For 8 years I had a special duty job working directly for the JCS and was gone 11 months out of the year and could not tell anyone where I was going. My exwife could not handle it and my son got the worst of it. My son was bullied and never had a father image and only if I knew now what I did not know then.
