Smart scale data. Dunno if it's accurate but it's what I've got. Late October lean body mass 98.5lbs. This week lean body mass 102lbs (the highest I've ever seen, FWIW). 3.5lbs muscle gained in just over 3 months. Honestly better than I expected 🤷‍♀️ I've gained some fat too, at some point I'll try to lose some of that, not concerned about it. Actually much more worried that all the muscle will go away again once I bring my calorie intake down.

Not sure how long I can continue this current trend, just seeing where it takes me and at the moment I'm taking a week off from lifting just because I'm tired physically and mentally. Will see how I feel after this little break.

The biggest thing I'm taking away from this experience is what I learned from my solo workouts. I kinda knew from working with a trainer last year what it takes to build muscle, but I actually find I push myself harder now that I'm on my own and I am developing a way better feel for what will create progress in my lifts.

@OTB Thanks! Yeah I don’t really believe the day to day data since it’ll tell me I gained or lost 1+ lbs of muscle overnight lol. But maybe the average/trend over time means something? Definitely seeing lifting progress so the scale + workouts are two data points that say muscle is probably happening 🙂

Also, worth mentioning - how hard I have to work to see progress in my lifts…. SO much harder than I ever expected. Its so easy to plateau, very very hard to progress

So cool to be able to track. Wish I could use the smart scales but they have magnets and not allowed with a pacemaker….🤨

Awesome!! I bet you are feeling that strength, too.

@diana yeah it’s cool but I also have no idea at all if it’s accurate, so I keep having to tell myself not to take it too seriously. The real data is body measurements and strength I think 🤔

@moko13 yes and no lol. Some days are strong and energetic feeling, some feel like such a terrible grind. The progress is all so tiny and incremental. Sometimes I think you have to be a little insane or a hopeless optimist to keep trying 🤣

That is awesome. Glad you can find the motivation. So if you are making muscle is that not the progress you are looking for? Or you want to be able to lift heavier and heavier..

@PBMustard I don’t, I’m bad at podcasts, but I’ll keep that in mind if I’m looking for some extra guidance/inspiration. Thanks!

@liv001 that’s exactly the progress I wanted to see so I’m pretty happy 😁 I’m also a little tired and worn out, kinda got to the point of dreading/procrastinating workouts because I would dig so deep in each of them. And the surplus eating gets a little old sometimes. Ideally I’d love to gain another 5lb of muscle before doing a little cut, but that’s at least another 5 months of hard, hard work at this rate. So idk! 🤷‍♀️ ultimately I’m just kinda playing around with all this and experimenting. The stakes are low. There are no real consequences either way. the weird stuff I do to stay busy and entertain myself lol 👀🤷‍♀️

Well I’ve never been accused of being an optimist so I’m probably a little insane then! 😆🤣 I’d still like to think those tiny changes add up to much more because you have to admit — the mental fortitude to keep going is its own challenge. Kwim? That’s ALL YOU pushing.

@moko13 Lol 🤣 FWIW all my favorite people are probably a little bit insane 🤣🤣 And yeah I can't deny there is kind of mental strength that you build, sounds like you are experiencing this as well 🙂

Mind Pump is great! I've learned so much from them I usually just watch their YouTube videos of the podcasts and puc ones I find interesting. They have started to anoy me they have gotten really big and they keep pushing clothing brands and crap I get it but it's annoying Noone needs an 80 dollar cotton tshirt to go to thw gym in lol. That aside they are Incredibly knowledgeable and I own 3 of their MAPS lifting plans as well and I will be pretty much following one of them starting today with some slight tweaks

@otb good to know I have the hardest time listening to podcasts for some reason, I think I might be the only person who really doesn’t enjoy them. Like all of them 👀🤣🤷‍♀️ the workout plans sound interesting though
