Hey, Julesy! Congrats on the decision to quit smoking! You won't regret it, I PROMISE!! I never tried the patch but Chantix was fairly effective. It just made me sick and I had HORRID nightmares on the higher dose. But I did OK on the lower dose. But.... Don't knock going cold turkey. It'll suck for about 4 days, but then it's over and you never have to be a slave to nicotine again! How do I know? Just celebrated my 2 year anniversary nicotine free and I've loved every minute of it!! Best of luck!!!

Today is my 30th day without a cigarette!! 30 year smoker :( I use the lozenges…..It's an addiction to nicotine, but a huge habit….so this helps with both…..I have tried both in the past, but this is the best I have ever done…Keep up the good work!

I used Chantix and it kept me not needing cigarettes very well. I lasted for about a week, by then I could not deal with the side effect nightmares any more and stopped taking it but continued not to smoke ...it worked for me that way but beware of the nightmares. very seriously terrifying. Several years no smoking now and I smoked for almost 15 years before quitting. Good luck!

I have heard Chantix is not a good choice - maybe the patch or gum? I bet you could use the 12 Steps to do it, too!

I haven't met two people who quit smoking exactly the same way. For me, I used my power of procrastination. I kept saying, "I'll smoke later" because I hated being dependent on a drug. I've put off smoking for about 20 years now. Some guys in my office use the vapor cigarettes to "quit" smoking... but I think vapor and smokes are the same thing to your body. A buddy of mine just went cold turkey like I did, but for different reasons. My wife used the patch, but eventually quit by going cold turkey too. I still get the urge to smoke. When I do I mimic the hand gestures of smoking (light, puff, drag, blow, tap the ashes) for a minute or two. The hand habit was the hardest to overcome. Good luck! I hope you find your true motivation.

Chantix is really great because it removes the cravings and your body is able to get over the withdrawals without really noticing it. But it is weird for sure - the dreams are somewhat unsettling. If you can do it though, I think it beats getting on some other form of nicotine, which just postpones the withdrawals to another time. Good luck!

I finally quit using the patch (after multiple attempts with gum, patch, Chantix and cold turkey). You've nailed it though, you have the "willingness". You can't quit for anybody else but you and only you know the real reason. I didn't know if I was quite ready at the very end so I did the last two week patch regimen a second time. Last cigarette was March 13, 2015. I had to replace my vice with something though. I replaced it with running; well, actually walking first. 2 nights ago I ran for 1.5 hours. Not a blistering pace, but not bad for an old guy who smoked 2 packs a day for 25+ years. Last night I ran a 5K in 33 minutes.

I smoked for 40 years, and I smoked because I enjoyed smoking. 7 1/2 years ago when they started going up to like almost 5 bucks a pack. I said no way no more and God please help me. I have never smoked again or even wanted one. But it takes me forever to lose a few pounds. go figure.

I quit tobacco cigs July 5, 2014 after 31 years. I started using the Blu E-Cig on June 1, 2014 while finishing the real cigs I had. I started with the "regular" flavor first, then after about a month or two, switched to the vanilla and cherry flavors. October 12, 2014 I quit the E-Cigs too. I think the vanilla and cherry has less nicotine so it was easier to stop. It was a good investment to buy the rechargeable one instead of the disposable since it took a few months to quit.
