Don't forget to appreciate who you are and where you're at right now. I know that we're all on a journey to somewhere else and as bad as things may seem today, they could be worse tomorrow, or 365 tomorrows from now, or maybe you're right where you want to be, savor the victories, forget the defeats, and keep on keeping on.

if you are optimistic bad things don't phase you... positive bliss all the time

I remember being told not to worry about the glass being half empty or half full - refill it with optimism, joy and friendship

That's a good point, Minitata, they never tell you to consider what the cup is all about or what happens to be in the cup. If I've got a twelve ounce cup containing six ounces of poison, half empty or half full hardly matters.

LOL! Good point Phil! I never liked that saying anyways. I see the good and bad=realist. Sometimes the bad things NEED to phase you because maybe change is needed. Realists.....the only ones who really know whats going on! LOL!

I trained in the school of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Bandura and Elllis, realists, one could say.

phill an intellectual question what if you have a situation where intransigence is right for you where you need to fix the environment not adapt to it discuss

Are you trying to gain now?

That's nice Phil :-)

You made me think today, Phil. I never thought of the glass half full/empty thing the way you did. This is a much better way of looking at it!

Thanks, Misty, I try to keep it real. 20-T-L, no not trying to gain, I was reflecting on being at goal, how not so long ago it was that I was 450 pounds, and how regardless, we all should like who we are. John, an example that comes to mind is being in an abusive relationship, one should never accept that as normal and adapt but should do everything they can to do just what you suggest, change the environment; new playgrounds and new playmates is the jingo that comes to mind.

Thank you. I needed to hear that.

phill first i like your examples in conclusion we need to change and also not to change depending on the situation we are facing. this to me is what I mean as not being phased, that value system cannot be distorted by reactionary behavior. we at times need to be the mold or the clay........... whats your take

My take is that situations aren't static and that ad hoc hypothesis aren't a bad thing in practical application.

Exactly Phil.

phill ive seen from Fs many people seem to eat from stress from bad days at work from many posts being the behavioral specialist can you give them advice on workplace toxicity and ways of recuperating without the eating binge I think this will be helpful

Think before you eat, hold yourself accountable, etc., etc., blah blah, nothing they don't already know. That's the thing with weight loss, most of it is intuitive. Sure, you run across people that are truly clueless, have no idea how to lose, what to do, but that's pretty rare. More often you might clue someone in on something they've never heard of, but truly, in the Internet age, you would have to deliberately NOT want to know. At any rate, the battle is personal and real but you've got to do it to win it. I can explain to you how to do a butterfly stroke all day long but if all you do is practice the butterfly stroke on the side of the pool you'll never be swimming, amirite?
