“Carbs are the reason people get fat?”

No mate, it’s because carbs are so fu@ken tasty that the common person does not know when to put them down.

(If u consume too many calories u gain weight [PERIOD])

No, if in a deficit you will not store anything. Your body can still store fat when insulin is low if you consume more energy than you expend. Look up Insulin an undeserved bad reputation by James Krieger. CICO drives fat loss or gain no matter what WOE you choose.

"The study Recently, Drs. Kevin Hall and Juen Guo published what I believe is the first meta-analysis of controlled feeding studies that compared diets of equal calorie content but differing in carbohydrate and fat content (1). They only considered studies in which all food was provided by researchers and protein intake was held constant between diets. Their outcomes were energy expenditure and body fatness. The results They identified 28 studies that met their criteria for energy expenditure. Combining the data of these 28 studies, they found that calorie-matched diets predominating in fat vs. carbohydrate have almost identical effects, but higher-carbohydrate diets do lead to a slightly higher energy expenditure. This difference was statistically significant but of little medical or practical relevance, since it only amounted to 26 Calories per day. This slightly higher energy expenditure is consistent with the fact that the metabolism of carbohydrate is slightly less efficient than the metabolism of fat, meaning that a bit more energy is wasted*." I'm posting the link but Fat secret cuts them off, I can PM it to you if you want. http://www.stephanguyenet.com/meta-analysis-impact-of-carbohydrate-vs-fat-calories-on-energy-expenditure-and-body-fatness/

Many people focus on carbs being the problem, and of course overconsumption of them is not only easy, but the fact that insulin has the potential to drive some of the excess intake towards fat storage, but majority of high carb foods also contain high fat, further contributing to excessive intake. However, interestingly, lipids (fats) are not only higher in calories (9cal per gram vs 4) they’re also more easily stored as adipose tissue (body fat) throughout the body other than carbohydrates and protein (somewhat due to both having higher thermic effect than lipids). Unlike carbohydrates, where stores are limited and oxidation occurs rapidly, fat storage goes relatively unregulated because the human body has an almost unlimited ability to store lipids... So, the main things to take away, as long as you’re controlling carb intake, primarily eating complex not processed carbs, not over consuming them, you’ll be fine, & even if you do eat tons, & body fat is gained to some degree, having much less calories the subsequent days following that, (or even fasting if you prefer) will knock out most if not all body fat gained. As far as eating fats goes, same thing, if you’re full off eating enough fat/protein you’ll most likely be too full to eat anything else anyways, & not eating tons of fat will keep things under control easier as well. So finding balance between whatever WOE & amounts get you to lose fat (or gain muscle) & how you choose to incorporate everything into your personal preferences, is the key factor, & everything else will usually work itself out.

Just wondering if I eat under or at goal calorie intake. n I eat 5 cups of watermelon, is that binging on watermelon? Cause it’s a lot I know

Thank you for the info 🧐

So if you eat at or around whatever your maintenance caloric level is, even if it’s a small surplus, with all else being equal, “binging” won’t matter too much or at all, as long as your total weekly caloric amount is in a deficit by the end of the week. If your goal is to lose weight. Even more so if you’re doing some form of exercise, & the TEF (thermic effect of food) will also decrease some of the calories consumed as well. So if you want to eat a lot of watermelon or whatever today, I’d recommend having a deficit tomorrow, (again if your goals is weight loss)the size of the deficit won’t matter unless you have a large surplus today, then a slightly larger deficit tomorrow would help better, if it’s a lot over your maintenance. But if your amount the rest of the days adds up to put you into a caloric deficit, also insuring you get sufficient protein as well & everything will be fine.

I know weight wise I'm fine. but eating 5 cups of watermelon is a lot. can I say I binge on watermelon, while creating a caloric deficit? or do have to consume surplus of calories in order to say I binge?

5 cups of watermelon sounds like a Fruitarians breakfast. Those 80-10-10 MACROS people with 80 being carbs. High volume of foods with fruits and vegetables being their focus. I doubt they'd consider it a binge. Maybe you just want the lycopene?!?

It’s really up to you to decide if you want or how you want to eat the amounts of watermelon (or any other foods) for example if you ate 1000 calories over your limit ( a surplus) and took out 1000 calories on the rest of the days of the week, in any manner you chose, (like -300 Wednesday, -500 thurs, -200 fri. Etc) or however you wanted to do that. Then it wouldn’t make any difference either way if you ate X food or X amount in a single day or over the course of seer all days as long as the weekly total comes out the same. “Binging” to me is, when someone overconsumes tons of foods/calories, without concern for the negative after effects or care to tack progress over time or even to bother with wanting to lose weight or gain fat to any degree in a week/day. Because for your personal definition of “binge eating” may be someone else’s “regular meal/snack” or “cheat meal” (which a “cheat” meal is Just as bad as binging if it’s negatively impacting someone’s progress and/or health). Just as someone can have a “cheat meal” & it’ll be no different than what I may call my “regular weekly snack” or whatever. So it all comes down to individual context really. For example, I’ve easily consumes & tracked well over my limit in a day, upwards of 1500 calories, sometimes more, however, with how I plan things out, I make sure I’m in a deficit by the end of the week/days following the high surplus, & will still lose fat to some degree. There are even benefits to binging sometimes, it basically can act like a “refeed day” for the body, and can sometimes even aid in fat loss after a deficit resumes, regardless of cals are tracked or not. (I wrote a small post in the past on refeed days, somewhere in my profile... ) so by all means, enjoy yourself!

oh It’s my “March 13 2018” post, should offer a little more insight

and for the binging, I'm gonna stop thinking eating a lot of fruit is binging....as long as I'm in a caloric deficit. its just awesome that I can eat so much fruit n not use a lot of calories
12 jun. 18 por el miembro: rosio19
Yeah, but you still ate less calories than you expended which is why you lost. Even if calories are not counted, CICO always applies. Low carb is one way to lose without counting. One of many.

jheeden in the near future I know ill be able to do that. but honestly I enjoy numbers, I like to play around with them and the possibilities of what I can eat (silly me haha). for now, rather count
