ok, doing the lclf Keto Still looking at the info on Keto. I used LCLF in the past but from what I see now, I think my biggest mistake was not paying attention to the amount of protein! I always thought well more protein is good, but I've been watching some youtube things with Jason Witter (really great, heard about him from someone here) and he also says that use to be what people in the past thought, but you should look for the FAT 75% 20%protein & 5% carb (from vegies)I think that is the ratio he suggested. ANYWAY it makes sense now, in my 64yr old brain! About time, huh? Also I am concentrating on the natural food or as close to as possible. NO MORE packaged junk, unless it passes my test. AND found some great grass fed, pasture raised meats, eggs, butter, cheese. Yes it costs more but do I really want to put stuff that they feed & inject into my food into my body? Not today!.
So, one day, one meal, one moments at a time.
ITS MY TIME :-)

You got it!! People don't realize that a too high amount of protein isn't good. Keeping the foods as natural as possible is also key, and the fats from healthy sources. I've been living and eating strict Keto since late December and have dropped significantly, it works!! You've got the right knowledge!! Good luck to you 😀

You want some protein. If you do less than 30 carbs per day and stick to your calories, you're going to have the right amount of protein.

Been doing lchf for 3weeks, down a solid 5lbs (NOT WATER WEIGHT LOL), I found that once I stopped buying crap food and eating out, that I had money for real food. Bonus: once you get in ketosis you don’t crave as much food 🥦🥒🥓🧀☕️🍳

I am going to check out the keto deal. there is a utube seminar starting Monday. I always thought it was a quick weight loss not a way of life eating plan.

Sounds like you are on a solid plan! I agree about keeping the protein reasonable. The RDI I read was .36 g per pound but I don't know what the community thinks about that or if other sources differ.

Also hard for me to wrap my head around all the fat too after we have been so conditioned to think it was bad. I just started and I feel different already after 3 days. Lost a lot of water first two days. Good luck!!

There are all sorts of online protein calculators out there- plug in age, weight activity level and they will give a basic number. The formula you posted provides the basic protein needs for life. If you are elderly, debilitated, athletic you probably need more. Vegetarians require at least 10 percent more. For those people who do require more, it has been recommended that they get that protein from non red meat sources because of the fat content of much of the red meat that is eaten.. So let’s say you are on the “standard” 1500 calorie a day diet. They have always recommended a figure of 10-35% protein daily. 10% protein calories would equal 150 calories of protein or about 40 grams (4 calories to a gram) hope that help.
