I give up...I have no idea what it takes to lose weight. I am completely off the rails and losing anyway...I'm not complaining per se. I just wish I knew what to do to lose weight. I need to figure it out so I can do whatever it is that's working. Because I'm so up and down! Who knows???Not this girl!! I have this great spreadsheet that is doing nothing at all to help me because nothing is making any sense. There doesn't seem to be any correlation between the weight loss and what I'm doing! I'm tired and I have another infection and I have to get rid of it before the 1st of March because I will be seeing the surgeon to figure out my surgery date and I can't have an infection if I want to have the surgery! I'm not making good food decisions but the food gods are apparently smiling down on me because I had an almost 3 pound loss. But that doesn't do me any good if I can't duplicate it. I have no idea what I'm doing...none...

Are counting your calories??

It does not matter what you eat, you will always need a calorie deficit to lose weight, sometimes people also stop losing weight because they are not eating enough for a long period of time. The human body is crazy 🤯🤔, I really hope you can find what works best for you 🙏

Thank you @Keilin_4...I am counting calories it just seems like I'm losing more weight when I just shovel it in! No clue! I haven't been able to walk these last few days...ear infection is kicking my butt...which made me sad...so I eat and eat some more...and then I lose weight...? *sigh...no clue. Maybe tomorrow I will gain it all back...I just don't know why I lost it in the first place.

Perhaps you have been losing weight, but retaining water. I would suggest you to concentrate on a balanced diet and don't stress about the scale 😊

The infection can be the reason of your water retention, take care of yourself, I hope you feel better soon. I consider that you have been doing a great job 👌👍

Hey Katie.....I dig you! Love the attitude......you're going to be ready for the surgeon in March. A tool I've used in the past is trendilne tied to fitbit. You can open an account and just mark your weight down and it provides a forward trend of your progress. You do not need a fitbit device. It provides a little better perspective or forward look at your actual trends. Chin up; you're doing fine.

Katies71, looking at your weight chart you've made tremendous progress since November of last year. That's 3 1/2 month of steady progress, you absolutely do know what it takes to lose weight because that is what you're doing! There are some things to keep in mind that might help you. One - the more you lose, the more likely it is your weight loss will slow from what it was initially. That's simply because you have less to lose than you did initially, and that is normal. Two - progress can be judged better over the long term instead of the short term. You are recording a weight almost every day, nothing wrong with that. But you will see fluctuations because you're looking at very short term weight changes which are affected by many things. Over the longer term you can better judge what's going on, and over the long term you are doing fantastic. Three - it's hard but keep being patient and keep doing what has been working for you. Long term success and then keeping the weight off is done by making long term changes in how we live and eat. It's not a short term journey. You ARE DOING GREAT!! :)

@ katies71 - Good job tracking your data in recent months. When I look at it, it seems that your rate of loss is related to your carbs: 12/2018 - (Carbs: 119.28g) - 316 > 307 = 9 pounds | 01/2019 - (Carbs: 83.77g) - 307? > 294 = 13 pounds | 02/2019 - (Carbs: 148.34g) - 292 > 287 = 5 pounds

@Katies71, have you read Dr. Jason Fung's "The Obesity Code"? He points out the many variables that yield that number on the scale on any given day. I strongly recommend the videos and articles on DietDoctor.com that talk about weight-loss stalls and how to cope with them, regardless of what strategies you're employing.

Dr Jason Fung is amazing. So is Dr Berg. I've watched almost every one of his YouTube videos. I've been doing his plan with some of my own added things. I feel amazing. Mental clarity. Less pain. And weight loss. I'm also getting some of his adrenal supplements. I'll see how that helps my hormones more!!

I agree with the other comments... You seem to be doing great! Keep your head up! Just keep moving forward. And know.... It didn't take a short period of time to gain the weight, so it won't come off in a short period of time either. You got this!

@keyten77 - Another full month at less than 100 carbs would be more 'conclusive' :) @Katies71 - I just hoped that you would see that your work tracking *IS* valuable :)

If I may be so bold, I find Corinne Niijer's podcasts to be very inspiring and informative. She has interviewed many people that have lost 100 lbs (and more) and reversed disease/improved their health. I've gotten some great help from her. Maybe there will be some fresh info for you here as well? All the best---https://www.corinnenijjer.com/the-podcast/2019/2/4/episode-76-nalida-lost-120-pounds-and-healed-her-gall-stones

Thanks everyone, I have been looking at Dr. Fung, I haven't looked into Dr. Berg or Corinne Niijer but will. @Adef...I was thinking the along the same lines as you but it only works if I look at a whole month. December was my biggest loss but not my lowest carbs. So I need another month of low carbs to be sure. Also it makes it hard to track week to week. Because I don't always see the same amount down even after the same macros...ugh! I just want it to be easier/more obvious which macros are doing the trick. Although adding in the chronic infections may account for the differences.

@katies71 - I think you are doing all the right things :) A few more 'opinions' (feel free to ignore!) [1] I used to drink McDonalds milkshakes and still lose weight. As I lost weight I could no longer do that (I had higher metabolism when I was heavier) [2] 8-12 pounds of my weight at any time is 'water', so I *must* look at 3-7 day periods. [3] For me, it is not 'just' the carbs but the carbs + protein (however, you have kept the protein consistent). [4] Umm... !!You are losing a lot of weight rapidly!! I mean SERIOUSLY! Perhaps you can step back an get a bit of perspective on what you have accomplished so far?? I am not seeing a *problem* here!

I'd say a baby step to keep losing is lots of veggies and decrease any processed foods.

Go to google and ask that question .. it will give you a chart telling you according to your age , height , and weight , how many calories a day you need to eat a day to loose either 1 or 2 pounds a week .
