This is one week where the numbers have let me down! I kept within my window of calories 6 days out of 7 days and ended up with my average below the specified window by 20 calories. I truly expected a loss. Looking over the week I can see that my day to day activity was more sedentary than usual although my daily exercise happened like clockwork. My eating was good with no extra salt like ham. Anyways it is a 0.6 gain. I guess I trust my program and then it should all pay off in the end.

This week has been all about the weather and my home renos. We have had very cold weather in northern Alberta. Each morning has been around -25C to -29C (-13F to -20F) with more on the way so staying warm and toasty in the house.

My home renos are moving along however it isn't that pop of transformation. Lots of the work is the 'in the walls' stuff in preparation for the transformation. My rental house renos are also moving along. I must say that as each reno project moves along I have both the excitement of seeing it getting done and the trepidation of watching the money go out to pay for it all. Quite the mental balancing act! I spend a lot of time soothing myself that it will all be worth it and that I have ways to pay for it and it will all be good in the end!

I have also been working more and more with a daily meditation regimen. I am finding this to be a supportive piece in my self care. I have done two weeks of daily body scan (45 min) and sitting meditation (10 min). Tomorrow I transition to the next stage.

Great work with the meditation. Love it! As for the weight, I'm with you on waiting another week. Lots of things may be causing this. Our bodies sometimes fight the loss, but if you are being consistent with your RDI or WOE everything WILL kick in eventually. Keep at it! Be strong! :0)

Not to worry! That is about half a tall glass of water. Probably see more loss next week. Stress and lack of rest can be tough. Good for you doing stuff right!! 😁

Binky- thanks for being a cheering section! I hope that both of us get the results we want next week. Meditation has been quite interesting. I am reading Jon Kabot-Zin The Full Catastrophe as my guide.

Melissa- you are so right. There can be other factors however I was surprised that the numbers 'let me down' this past week. This coming week I intend to keep on with what I have been doing as I am confident my plan will work -- it has been working for almost a year and a half. It is just hard to do it when things didn't work the way they usually do. I will just have to trust the system.

Good plan for sure. I was surprised as I lost weight how often I pretty much could tell how much would be gone. It is frustrating to be disappointed when you did so well. A couple times I had a very low loss or a little gain and the. Dropped three the next week! Hang tight! ❤️

Thank you Melissa, I will. I do find it hard to be steady when the 'plan' didn't 'work'. I will certainly do so anyway to prove to myself that I am doing what I need to be doing.

Good job on the meditation. I'm sure it's helping manage the stress of expensive renovations (more than one at once!). The weight loss will pick up again as the stress abates! You may have elevated cortisol levels.

I meditate daily. Sometimes silent/zazen and sometimes guided. I like to lead yoga Nidra and guided body scans 🧘‍♀️

Erika- you are right about the anxiousness around the renos. I have had to do quite a bit of self soothing and reminding myself why I am doing this all at once! I also find that sleep makes a big difference in weight loss. If I am getting a solid 8 hours or more sleep I lose better.

Sparrow- you are much further along in your practice than I am. I am a major newbie. I plan to investigate on utube some guided sitting meditations. I am thus far doing ones concentrated on breathing and listening to the sounds in the room without thinking about them.

Zen- yes that may in fact be a part of it as well! Nothing like bodily functions mucking with the data!! (Big Smile)

It is so disappointing to be expecting a loss and get slammed with a gain instead. But patience my friend, stick with what you know works and it will happen. Just when I begin to doubt myself, the drop comes along and renews my faith. Your renovations too will pay off in the end. I was just grumbling to myself about having to wear a jacket today because the temperature here in the deep South of the USA is in the upper 30s when I read your post, which brought me back to reality. -30°F is COLD! My son in Fairbanks has been enduring -35 to -40° F for the last week or so. I've never experienced that, and hope I never do! Stay warm, stay serene.

There is always that dreaded plateau we hit and I hit one around 200 pounds too! Hey, you are in "Onederland" now! That's when I made yet another big diet change to start losing more weight. I also was just walking at that time and started mowing lawns for my family. Any excuse I had to lose weight, I fired upon! I made my lists and I crossed off the deeds and I still make my lists everyday!

Thank you Shirfleur. I will cultivate patience. You are funny about the jacket and at the freezing mark. That would be balmy here! Your son and I have weather in common. Your comment reminded me when I was visiting relatives in Alabama at Christmas time when I was a child. It was 70F out and my grandmother was horrified that I didn't have a sweater on. She insisted that I wear one. I was so hot!

Jamie we see eye to eye on the list! I have a list for each and every day. That way I ensure that I do the things that are important to me and I don't lose track of what I need to do daily to get make longer term goals to happen! Good deeds and exercise is a great combination!

I don't meditate like you do, but I do light candles and pray the Rosary in the evenings with my RM. I feel much more centered and burdens seem to lift. Glad it works for you. Anything to relieve that stress. :0)

Binky- sitting quietly at prayer filling yourself with the right now and just concentrating on your prayers is meditation. The meditation I do doesn't centre on God however what is happening in our brains are very similar. It is a healthy practice whether it is prayer or meditation. I am glad you have it in your life.
