I had a great workout this morning. I had gone jogging around the house several laps. Jogging is hard on my knees. I hope to get better at it though. I walk every other day to take a break from it. I hope to one day get into running. Right now jogging is my thing.

May I suggest for you to do some research on damaging effects of running and the benefits of smart weigh training? As a former runner in my 40s, I wish someone had told me about the damage caused by running and about the safer, more effective methods to getting healthy and being fit. I enjoy cycling and weight training, personally :) Glad you're on the fit track!

My bad knee can't run (plus I'm a firm believer that you should only run if being chase😁), I find biking or swimming is more my sweet zone for cardio. Just some alternatives maybe

As much as I commend anyone jogging/running, it's not for me. Quick sprints and fast walking might be easier on your knees until you build up to doing more. Regardless, you do you. Take care and have fun!

Sounds like fast walking would protect your knees. Great to be down a pound.

Fan of running and don't think it's really that much riskier than other ways people stay in shape (I'd fall off a bike and have several times in the past, and there are some weights I wouldn't dare touch just because I'm so clumsy and could easily hurt myself seriously), but it is important to take into account how much you're doing, the surface you're running on, the force exerted on your joints and why you're doing it, as well as not ignoring warning signs. If your knees are giving you trouble, maybe try a lower-impact form of cardio until it's not so painful to run?

I agree w/Acd36 on the running part. lol Also, h2o is a great alternative to pounding on the asphalt. It relieves pressure on the bones by becoming weightless/buoyant while doing jumping-jacks, running, marching, etc. I used to luv instructing Water-Aerobics. It was fun!!! They used to call me the Water-Angel. O:-)

Jogging, running and even walking are great forms of exercise but not the only way to exercise. Over doing any exercise can cause bodily damage. Some activities may be not be for you at this time. Mix things up until you find what works well for you right now. Consider resistance training. You can use your own body weight, resistance bands, machines and free weights. The most important thing to do for weight loss is burn extra calories any way you can comfortably. Don't overlook walking. It's highly underrated and a great place to start...

I'd definitely recommend walking also. The heavier I am, the harder running is on my body. Even at a very lean body weight running has caused me problems occasionally. I still love it but walking is so great for you and often over looked! I love to crank up the incline on my treadmill and walk, and watch some netflix!

Yup, what they said. Walking burns just as many calories as running, it just takes a little longer.
