Down 2 pounds, so the diet switch-up is working. Maybe it's a few things: I started weighing my food, which I was worried would make me obsessive, but it's more gadgety fun instead. I also tracked my calories this time, which I'm stopping now because I've established that no matter how much fruit I eat in a day, I'm never going to hit even 900 calories. So it's an established "safe" food for me. Thirdly, I didn't eat any salt or added sugar this week (I take my coffee black anyway, and I cut out my usual teaspoon of sugar in my hot tea, which reduced its flavor, but not enough to bother me).

I tried a new food this week: frozen grapes (OMG -- why have I never tried these before??? They're like candy!).

After a week of all fruit, the side effects for my skin is nothing short of amazing. I woke up this morning and my face is smooth, clear and GLOWING. Another bonus is that all week I've had tons of energy. Fruit being a carb, this is to be expected, but still a nice experiment. Sleep totaled 6-7 hours/night.

Downside: Some of the fruits made me belly-bloated (watermelon, grapes), in part because of their high water content, but also because I ate 5+ cups of them each day. I was fine by morning, and I realize that this past week of all-fruit was just the cleanse portion, but it wasn't the best feeling. 😕

This week's menu is still heavy on the fruit, but breads and veggies are being added in slowly. Happy Sunday, Everyone! Wishing you success for your efforts this week!

Did the book also allow other “fruits” that many of us consider vegetables? Peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, avocados? It’s great you are sharing this experience! I’ve done a “fruit feast” but for 3 days only. I’m not sure how long I would be able to continue that so kudos to you!

Congratulations on the loss!! I’ve always loved frozen grapes and California grapes will be coming soon to market.👏👏👏👏👍 Watermelon is a reverse calorie food along with carrots, tomatoes, and apples, that I love! Thanks for the update JustBananas and have a fruitful and blessed Sunday!👍🌸🌺

@Mesatop: The book is very specific about what fruit to eat, e.g. grapes for breakfast & lunch, strawberries for dinner, watermelon all day. Week 2, which I'm starting today, adds in your above list, which it considers vegetables, despite their formal classification. But again, it is specific: pineapple for breakfast & lunch, garden salad for dinner. No limit on the size of the portions. No substitutions allowed until week 4.

@Shrewd - what, we're only now getting around to sharing our grapes with you? We have grapes year-round! @Hebrews -- thank you! Down is good, crashing the plateau is better!

I will be trying frozen grapes. That's one fruit I haven't enjoyed frozen - have tried bananas, papaya, mango, cherries, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and pineapple frozen, but not grapes. Happy it is working for you. Weighing food can make people obsessive and I don't want to do it forever, but it's truly a great tool.

@Chevre: frozen strawberries are just a no for me. I cannot handle the change in texture. Frozen cherries sound really good, though. Cherry season is mid-May through June, so I'll stock my freezer next month. Thanks for the idea!

My verdict: also hate frozen strawberries, not a fan of frozen pineapple, definitely prefer those two fresh, super sweet and juicy. Papaya, bananas, mango, cherries, blueberries, and raspberries, I love in both forms.

JustBananas I can only find grapes from South America.🙃 (Have been buying them, but want USA grapes) 🌼

@Shrewd: glad you are supporting our southern neighbors in the meantime. Also, watermelon as a reverse-calorie food makes sense, now that you mentioned it. I couldn't understand why after eating 3 cups of it that I was still hungry (yet sloshy-bloated from all the water it contains).

So good that you’re taking the time to see what works for you

Thanks Moopie & Ridemariel! I'm not operating under any stopwatch to lose the last 15 pounds, as my health is good. If I had diabetes, heart disease, etc. and the concern that I would have a stroke/heart attack if I didn't lose the weight, I would be a lot less experimental. At this point, I'm trying to find a WOE that will work whether I'm working from home, in an office, or even injured.

Thanks for sharing this experience with us. I’m very curious about your progress. Did you take your body measurements to compare. Particularly your waist. I’m really just interested in how this program works.

@Sarah: I'm gauging success by clothing sizes rather than inches. When I started dieting last spring, I was about 180 lbs., wearing XL and size 16. Two years prior, before I got fat, I was wearing a Small and sizes 2 & 4. Those clothes hanging in my closet are the target. Right now I'm comfy in a size 6, in both dresses & jeans. For reference, I'm 5'5". I'm healthy now both inside & out, so this last bit is cosmetic and also to save $$$ on wardrobe.

JB, it must have felt strange going from a size 2-4 to a size 16 in two years.

Stretchy pants for work, then big sweaters. It felt like a snowball crashing and growing as it plowed down the mountain. I would shovel at my desk whatever was put out in the breakroom, all day, FEELING myself getting larger. Mentally I was dealing with a lot, and you could see it on the outside by just watching me fork it in. I am so glad to be out of that environment.

Nice post and lots of helpful comments.

I did the stretchy pants (or drawstring pants) too as I gradually ballooned from a 6/8 to a 12/14. Or I was always a "medium" which is cut to allow quite a range of sizes. Vanity sizing allows us to lie to ourselves too. I now no longer buy clothes that aren't fitted and have a string at the waist. When I started seeing real results, even those pants couldn't be tied any tighter and the comfortably loose legs began looking ridiculous.

Also glad I am out of my previous work environment. People eating all the time, free food all the time, birthday cake, cheese platters, cookies, no time, little control.
