Diario de Mrs.Failla, 18 may. 21

So, I'm brand new to this... I'm a 38 year old stay at home mom and housewife. I love food and cooking. Really, I've had a love affair with food that's been quite tumultuous through the years... lol. I've been 240 lbs and I've been 102 lbs, and everything in between. Just 3 weeks ago, I had a minor heart attack. Even typing that feels surreal. My daughter is only 10, she has autism, and she needs me! I also smoke, but have cut down by half since the heart attack- june 1st is my quit date. I'm ready to change my life. My cholesterol is high so I'm trying to get that down while losing weight. Hoping to gain advice and inspiration, and to be able to reciprocate! Good luck to all of us!! Thank God for second chances!!!

Put a picture of your daughter on the front of the fridge. Motivation issue solved. Don’t wait till June 1st to quit smoking. Right now would be a great time. Today is the first day of what you want to be a long life. You can do this.

You are looking for a lifestyle change that is sustainable. Really assess your current lifestyle, ie smoking, drinking, processed and fast foods and continue to make the necessary cuts. I am a portion control, moderation person. Healthier choices most of the time, less healthy, or choices less conducive to accomplishing your goals, just once in a while. Deprivation and feelings of guilt have no place in a lifestyle change. With any luck, your life can still be long and part of that life is food. Change your relationship with food by learning to control how much you eat and how often you eat the less healthy choices. We will be rooting for you

I just saw my doctor she is happy with my 20pds but she still says to lose the other 26 but wants me to get good calories she told me to use the mayo calories counter for the weight I want to be so I put in145 it told me how many calories I need for a person of that weight still thinking 🤔 about that

Take that cigarette money and put it in a jar to do something fun with your little one.

Welcome, glad you are committed to changes for your daughter and also for yourself. Wish the very best for you. Yes, it is tough to give up things, but you are doing it for your ultimate good. Discipline is tough for all of us.

The most important thing I’ve done for myself was to quit smoking after 42 years. It’s been 12 years. Every time I wanted a cigarette I picked up my knitting instead. I used a simple strip pattern, that was quick to finish rows. Sometimes, I would knit in the car, if I got stuck in traffic. I took my knitting everywhere. Ultimately, I finished 3 afghans. God bless you and your family.

I highly recommend whyquit.com It helped me so much. I had tried everything before finding it and it is 100% free. I wish you the best on your road to health. It is a challenge, but so worth it.

Commit to the fact you are making healthy changes for good....the rest of your life. Be patient with yourself. Every pound lost is a step in the right direction.
