Had a good week in terms of diet and exercise, and now feel that achieving my goal of 139lbs by the end of the year is possible. I'm going to have to use last year's strategy regarding Christmas again though. So I think I'll say now:

- only one Christmas treat per week in the month leading up to Christmas,
- keep counting calories throughout,
- and try to have four days of sensible eating and exercise between Christmas and New Year.

We don't have any specific plans for Christmas yet, but I'm sure something nice will come along 😀

You are good, I fear the appearance of mince pies with a passion - I can easily hoover a box in 3.2 seconds on a slow day. Bliss though :)

Great strategy. I am going to follow your lead and do similar. One of my (many) Christmas passions is a Yule Log. I always buy one and nobody else eats them in my household so, of course, I end up eating it all! This year: NO YULE LOG.

Think we will do the same, if we don't buy the goodies then they can't be eaten!

There's generally no need to buy mince pies unless you're having company, because you get offered plenty while you're out and about, I find. Also stollen. I'm in Spain, and they have lovely stuff called turron, which is nowadays used to describe a slab of pretty much anything sweet. Traditionally, different regions had their own kind, and it's often based on almonds and honey. Nowadays there's chocolate and all sorts. I like the one with chocolate fondant and brandy-soaked cherries in it best! It's all very sweet, and high fat, and I used to be able to eat half a slab an evening 😀

I am sure you can achieve your goal. And as you say, sensible eating and a walk instead of something sweet, should see Christmas pass with no disasters.

Uh-oh. I just looked up recipes for turron. So simple and sounds lovely. I don't have a particularly sweet tooth, either! Brandy cherries sound wonderful in it too...

Stollen, another good thing about Lidl coming to this country. Well, kinda! Mince pies though, I could live on them and cheese.

I have a weakness for panettone and I've already ordered my Christmas pudding from Figgy's (highly recommended if anyone wants to buy one that is actually home made - just Google "Figgy's"). I'm not making or buying a Christmas cake this year though. Your plan sounds very good. Think I would fail at the four days of sensible eating and exercise between Christmas and New Year though. That's when I finish up all the goodies!

Doobrie, I leave the finishing up job to my hubby. It doesn't last long, and he doesn't put weight on.

Lol, Heidi! My dear husband does put weight on, so I make the sacrifice and do it myself :)
