Um, i hesitate to wade in here, bc i am no expert. but i think this is more for ppl in a more normal weight/fitness range. Imo, when one has 100+ pounds to lose, moving as much as possible, however you can, 5-6 days a week, is important just to get to a weight where one can work out more pointedly/effectively. When your body gets smaller and not as much in your way, then it becomes easier, imo. Guess i am advocating for working harder, not smarter. 😀

Well, it all comes down to needs, goals, preferences, & how an individual chooses to move/exercise etc. someone with 100+lbs can easily workout 3 times a week and still lose weight just the same as doing it in 5-7 days or whatever amount. It all depends on how everything is incorporated into their lifestyle, diet, daily activity, job etc. Someone who has 20lbs or less to lose could also be working out a full 7 days a week and lose weight the same as they would 2-3 days, it all just depends on all the above factors and how they’re directly or indirectly affecting a persons goals in relation to weight loss. (As well as weight gain)

Balance in all things, folks. I'm a fan of strength training, but don't vilify cardio, it has its place in a balanced lifestyle. I had a gym teacher in high school who was literally musclebound. He was huge, but couldn't run and couldn't swim. He thought he was healthy. These days, I'd probably guess he was using steroids. Point is that too much of cardio or weight training can take a toll on the body over time. And before you judge me based on this weight, I was a soccer player, swimmer, water polo, and kickboxer in my previous non-sendentary life, so I do have real life experience in the gym and outside. And age is a bitch. Things wear out over time.

I dislike cardio with a passion, it just reminds me of all those hrs I wasted thinking i was on my way to fat loss. My own fault for not looking knowing better

It’s all about the diet aka the way of eating. And strength training 👌🏼

Oh, I totally agree. It's boring as hell, which is why I have large dogs so we can do things like walking at night or eventually going back into the canyons (homeless issue here currently - not safe for anyone w/needles and other nasty stuff) rather than treadmill or elliptical.

Cardio is not bad, it’s just not needed for fat loss

So question for you gym goers - (I'm only 3 months into consistent "gym going" lol) I do 30 minutes of elliptical (occasionally switch it up and walk on treadmill) and then do my strength training focusing on different areas of the body each day for around 20-25 minutes. I go 4x per week. Should I be doing strength training before cardio, or alternate or does it really matter in your opinion? Sorry I'm asking in the comments part of your post Rosio19 but I value all the commenters opinions that have previously commented :)

or forget cardio completely?

Drop cardio and concentrate on weight lifting, unless you plan on running the Forest Gump jogging trail.
