Diario de Debbie Cousins, 14 may. 19

Went to the doctor this morning as scheduled. I had to fill out a Depression scale thing, and I was in the WORST category on all but 3 of the questions. My doctor is a Christian, and encouraged me to pray for myself (which I have not been faithful in doing - I pray much more for OTHERS than for myself!) He also DOUBLED the quantity of one of my anti-depressants. On the other two, I am already at the maximum dosage.

He also referred me to a psychiatrist. When I got home, I called and scheduled an appointment with said psychiatrist for June 3rd. The Psychotherapists in that practice do not take the insurance I will have starting June 1st (Medicare Parts A & B and a Part F policy through Humana).

I called the psychotherapist that I WAS seeing until my insurance changed in January, but he doesn't take what I will have either. So, back to square #1 in the counseling department, but meds monitoring is taken care of.

I also went to physical therapy this morning and told my therapist why I had cancelled the past two appointments and that I was still depressed. She had me put my therapy on hold and get a new Rx from my PCP to start again when I am feeling more motivated. I'm going to try to start doing the exercises at HOME, and when I get "regular" at that again, I'll start scheduling appointments.

I've also not been doing well on my food choices today. I DID go buy some spaghetti squash and thawed some sausage to make spaghetti sauce from my big jar of Rao's sauce. I love that stuff, so I'll be able to have that for tomorrow.

Oh, the doctor thought the dizziness might be caused from being dehydrated, since I have not been getting in my water for several weeks! I'll start with the 48 ounces tomorrow and build up to 64oz by the time the Swimsuit Slimdown (SS#2) challenge starts next Monday (5/20).

Thank you to everyone for your well wishes and your prayers. I can still use them, as I'm not back in full swing yet. It will probably take some time for the increased dosage to really take effect, but first thing tomorrow morning, I'm going to try to ACT LIKE it is already working. "Act the way you want to be, and soon you'll be the way you act."

Thank you, @jnn8876. Sometimes I DO forget to "Trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not unto my understanding - in all my ways acknowledge Him and He will direct my path." I've also missed a couple days in my Bible reading (but I was about two weeks ahead, so I didn't fall behind). "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." That should help me to remember, too!

I love the positivity you ended your post with! You have already taken more steps in helping yourself than many. Follow the plan you have laid out for yourself and you will succeed!

I will pray for you. Things sound tough. I’m glad I know the GREAT PHYSICIAN who heals all diseases and sets us free. Praise the name of the Lord!!!!!

With the Rain lifting and temps in the 70's that should help you as well. Just remember to open the windows and breathe!

Praying for you! God set me free from anxiety and depression, and I know He can do the same for you. Keep your faith.

I am continuing to pray for you. Also I am resisting the enemy for you. So glad to hear you will drink more water. A nurse at a sewing group I was going to told me that whenever her husband got up in the morning dizzy, she had him drink a glass of water, and his dizziness went away. Getting back to healthy eating is so important. Sugar and high carbs make us depressed, plus can trigger low blood sugar after a high. Terrible cycle. I'm rooting for you. I'll get my pom poms out of the attic so I can jump up and down and do a little dance in my living room for you.

Just reading your post and the comments. I don't know what medications your on but some antidepressants side effect is dizziness. I will pray for you when I remember to pray. I am horrible at remembering to pray.

I love your honesty, @jwitherwax! When I tell someone I'm praying for them, I do it right THEN, otherwise I risk forgetting to do it.

Debbie, I absolutely HATE when I hear that a non-psychiatric physician is prescribing psychoactive medications, especially maximum doses of multiple psychoactive medications! I'm glad that your doctor has referred you to a psychiatrist. He should have done that *instead of* prescribing psychoactive meds himself. (I'll save my rant for my journal.)

praying for you. And though I don't pray 4 myself often, my pastor says you have not because you ask not. So ask for the Lord's guidance . love you and hope 4 the best.

Oh, my, I just saw these posts and am so sorry your depression has gone wild. I, too, know the importance of working meds -- panic disorder for me -- and admire you reaching out for help. That takes such strength and you are an inspiration! June 3 sounds a long way off when we're off-kilter. Hang tough, missy. I get my Parts A,B and will have an F plan in October, same as you!
