The frustration continues. I’ve only dropped .4 in four days. Following everything to a T, in ketosis. I’m not expecting 10 lbs a week here, but 2 is reasonable considering all factors! At this rate, I will definitely not reach the goal my dr set by next Friday. I’ve had zero cheats. No hidden calories anywhere. So strange.

Gotta keep going and hope something gives soon.

Watch those macros. Get the fat and protein percentages straightened out. Do not eat too many carbs. Noodle soup is not keto

You still have to have a calorie deficit to lose with keto WOE.

But I wonder if you starve yourself before you become keto adopted or even go into ketosis if that will help at all. Need to get plenty of fats so the body gets into keto burning mode. At least that is my experience

Liv, that's an interesting idea. I know fasting drives some of the same physiological changes as the ketogenic WOE does. People say they got into ketosis in 3 days; I saw increased weight loss 2 weeks after starting keto with calorie deficit; but I didn't have a meter to test for ketosis. Full keto adaptation takes up to six months.

I do know that "hacks" like using BHB supplements or MCT oil do not speed up keto adaptation or weight loss.

Thanks everyone. I’ve had success with strict keto before but this is modified through my hormone and weight loss dr to accommodate my personal needs. I’m disabled so I do not need the average calorie intake so for me, being around 1000 a day is only about 500 deficit at most. I will gain weight over 1500 and I will maintain around 1400. I have some strange health issues and medications so What I’m doing now is 100% following drs orders. The noodle soup I eat is a weight loss plan packaged soup and it has never been an issue (and was given to me by the doc). But I only use that as an emergency when I feel my sodium levels too low because I have very low blood pressure. Basically I’m a mess lol.

Just keep going. Things will even out. I did South Beach before and lost alot at first. Stopped it after awhile then went back. Very different results.

Don't be impatient. You didn't gain this weight overnight. It takes time, but it will happen. It took me the better part of a year in 2013 to lose 50 pounds, but once I got below 200 it went fast. Motivation was higher and my appetite was under control.

it depends on the "noodle". shirataki noodles are no carb/all fiber. therapeutic keto is high fat. ketosis is just a no/low carb thing. fat is still heavy in calories. when you stall on a keto-style diet its because of "calories in / calories out" issue. most of us have plenty of fat on our bodies. THAT is the fat that should be consumed. eat protein at .8g per lb of lean muscle mass to keep loss at a min. science.

Keto is irrelevant if you're not in a deficit. Are you weighing your food?

Variations in water retention plus contents of the digestive tract can add up to a few pounds. And scales aren't perfect either. This is why some people advise not to weigh daily. I, however, do like to weigh in daily. I just don't expect the reading to go straight down. If you are sticking to a 500 calorie deficit and your calorie count is accurate you will lose a pound a week but the uncertainty in measurement is 3 pounds. Heck in 5 days you've lost over 3 so you're way ahead of your "glide slope"

Is it a calorie deficit of 500 calories or a reduction of calories consumed per day? I've also had the experience where I drastically cut calories suddenly and my body went into "oh my gosh we are starving" and my loss of weight temporarily slowed.

Yes. Measuring and weighing my food so that things are as accurate as possible. I’ve reduced calories by around 700 a day which puts me in a 500 calorie deficit minimum per day. I know that is only going to average a pound a week, but staying in one spot for days seems so odd. I may do better if I don’t weigh obsessively. Lol. Just focus on the food and weigh in weekly maybe. But then again, I have an easier time resisting foods than I do resisting the scale. Glutton for punishment 😬 Thanks, everyone, for the advice and encouragement!

You'll make it!! And yes the scale sure does know how to beckon and be fickle

Up your water intake. You’re likely retaining water. When you lower your calories like that limit carbs, your body will retain water for energy. Up your water in take and flush out the water build up.

Very fickle indeed!!! Haha Oh that’s interesting about the water retention from reduced calories. Thank you for that! I get around 69-70 oz a day right now but you’re probably right: I’m already prone to retain water and probably should up that more. Thank you!
