Good morning FS family. I read most of the posts here and just being honest with you guys, it is way above my intelligence level. Some of it is so complicated, Im glad I'm keeping my change of life style different. Ive been at this now going on a month and thank God the cravings for sugar have left. I don't think about food all day either which I was worried about. I'm sticking to 1200 calories a day with under 100 carbs per day and that seems to be satisfying me. Really when I started this, I didn't think I would be vigilant but so far so good. I have all of you wonderful people here to thank for my progress. As we keep trudging the road to success together.

Clairsheart bullseye! There are so many extremely smart folks on FS and I often wonder why some like to jump in to make others feel less than smart (I know that isn't the intent of your post to say). The average person who wants to lose weight needs to keep it simple. Yesterday, my friend who has a Masters in Epidemiology and has worked in research her whole professional career talked about how she is gaining weight because she hears people talk about portions but doesn't know what "portion" means. She isn't overweight but is concerned about getting there. Meeting people where they are is important. I am glad you are keeping it simple and focused on what works for you and what is satisfying you. And as you said, we are in it together!

Most of the "discussions" that can get really heated are not interesting to me. I don't care or understand all the technical information. So I also try to stick to around 1200 calories and to get at least 40, but hopefully closer to 60 grams of protein. And if I spend time and energy with exercise I know I'm less likely to over eat.

Clairsheart— please don’t say it is above your intelligence level. These subjects are just things that are not part of most people’s background so are just unfamiliar. If you wanted to learn it you would find a way, just like you learned the skills in what is or was your profession. I try to post things related to dieting, health, nutrition that I find ion everyday sites or magazines that are written with the non medical person in mind. Metabolic ward studies etc, from scientific or medical journals go over most people’s heads and unless you really want to delve into the subject don’t even worry about it. But please do not say you are unintelligent. That is just so not true.

clairsheart—fancy digital technology, scales that talk, none of those are going to help your weight loss journey. I don’t even know how accurate they are. Your body is not a machine that you can COMTROL. You have to work with it as a team to get to your goal. Keep it simple. Don’t make this so hard.

I don't own the fancy equipment or keto meters or anything really but a rudimentary step-counter. I see all the posts and read what looks interesting and encouraging. I ask if I dont get something or I note it to look into later. I live my life these days on the Keep It Simple method. And please please don't say you aren't as intelligent as anyone else because that's just not true. We are all intelligent and have our own gifts

Love the 'Keep it Simple" Clairsheart and SassyRed. don't worry about all the technology or some of the other detailed plans or something called a macros that some have. I often don't get them either and what is most important is your mind set. I've been on here since 2012 have lost nearly 70 pounds and mostly kept it off for several years, I'm currently a bit above goal but working on getting back where I feel the best-fit and feeling good is my goal. I have a $10.00 WalMart scale with a dial--no digital. I do not want to stress over fractions of pounds. My weight normally fluctuates 2 or 3 pounds a day up and down anyway. I do have a food scale, measuring cups and tons of kitchen stuff cause I love to play with food. My plan fits my life somewhere between a Mediterranean WOE and Mao clinic's anti-inflammatory. I try to average 1200 calories per day over a week-- no stress over a single day. On maintenance I stay around 1400. Mine is low due to daily steroids for asthma. I do have a basic fitbit that counts steps, swim laps and sleep that's all. I have learned a lot here mostly about myself, ways to exercise and would not be where I am today without the help and support of my friends here in FS. Learning about yourself and feeling good about yourself is so much a part of this journey. It's 80% an emotional and psychological journey to be successful.

I have a basic scale made by Taylor. I got it from my visiting nurse when I got home from the hospital. I got my Fitbit yesterday and I was so happy. I wanted it mostly because it tracks my steps and breathing. I have emphysema and I don't know what happens when I'm asleep. I can send the info to my son who is my watchdog. I'm greatful for some of the technology today

If you found what is working, stick with it. You may need to tweak it here or there. You are the smartest one about your body for sure!
